School Lunches

Healthy Eating is Promoted

There is a choice of a hot meal, freshly cooked daily on site. There is a choice of halal meat, vegetarian or a chilled option daily. From September 2014 meals will be free for children in YR, Y1 and Y2.

Meals for children in Y3 - Y6 cost £1.80 each and must be paid for in advance either online or in cash every Monday.

Alternatively, children may bring in a packed meal or go home for lunch. Please ensure that lunch boxes are clearly named.

Children will need a second drink for their lunch.

Children in YN, YR, Y1 and Y2 are provided with fruit each morning under the National Fruit Scheme. Children in Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 are encouraged to bring fruit from home for their snack.

All children must bring a named plastic bottle of water to school every day, in addition to their lunchtime drink. This is available for the children during the school day.

Lunchtime Activities

During the lunch break, Roxbourne is a busy place!  Older children sometimes supervise the provision of games for their peers and younger children and enjoy the responsibility of being additional monitors in the dining hall. There are often clubs for Y3 - Y6.

On wet days, children are involved in quiet activities in the classrooms.

The Lunchtime supervisors display commitment and care for your children sharing a very special relationship with them.  Good behaviour is encouraged by awarding stickers and reporting “good news” to the class teacher at the end of the lunch period.

In the Upper School there are opportunities to change library books, and a range of clubs e.g. choir, tennis, golf, band, orchestra, chess, Lego, during the lunch hour.
