This half term our topic is People Who Help Us.
Some of the activities we will cover include:
Personal, Social, Emotional Development :- rules and routines, making friends, sharing and turn taking, playing games together, working together in pairs and small groups, talking to adults and friends in pairs and small groups, using manners, personal hygiene, sharing news and talking about special days and celebrations.
Communication, Language and Literacy :- recognising their name, making their name using magnetic letters, writing their name, taking part in conversations, developing their speaking and listening skills through role-play and small world activities, handling books, sharing stories, mark making, drawing lines and circles using different materials, joining in rhyming and alliterative games.
Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy Development :- counting objects in play, sorting and grouping objects, singing and acting out counting rhymes, recognising numbers, ordering numbers, recognising simple shapes and colours, making pictures and patterns using 2D shapes, developing knowledge of simple measures including full and empty, long and short, heavy and light, ordering objects by size.
Knowledge and Understanding of the World :- building models using a range of construction apparatus, exploring a range of sensory materials, cooking and observing changes, talking about seasonal changes and weather, finding out about people who help us - firefighters, police, doctors/nurses, teachers, looking at how we grow and change from a baby to a child, naming vehicles, making 3D maps, taking photographs with the digital camera, using simple paint programs on the computer.
Creative Development :- collage, painting and printing, 3D models, role play and dressing up, singing, dancing and playing percussion instruments.
Physical Development :- using a range of small and large equipment to develop throwing, catching, balancing and climbing skills, dancing with ribbons and scarves, using a range of tools, building with large crates, using wheeled toys, putting coats and boots on independently.
