YR Trip to Kidzania

Friday 20TH November

Reception went to Kidzania in Westfield’s Shopping Centre last Friday and had an amazing day. The children participated in a variety of different role plays including being firefighters and putting out the fire, being midwives, being air conditioning specialists checking Westfields air conditioning, as well as changing the tyres on a formula one racing car. The children learnt new skills and got to experience a range of jobs.

YR Firemen Visit

Friday 13TH November

Last Friday, Reception had a visit from four fireman and their fire engine. The children listened about the job that the fireman do to help us and also got to try on the uniform. The children went out to look at the fire engine and the firemen explained what all the equipment was used for. They even got to use the hose. The children thoroughly enjoyed this event and learnt about the importance of fitting smoke detectors.

YR Allotment Visit

Tuesday 20TH October

Reception have been learning about fruit and vegetables linked to Harvest. On Tuesday, the children went to visit Mrs Wilmott's allotment to see how vegetables and fruits grow. Mrs Willmott dug up a few different vegetables and showed the children the roots and how they had grown. The children were fascinated with how different fruits and vegetables grow. They learnt a lot about whether they grow above or under the ground or whether they grow on vines. We had a great time. Thank you Mrs Willmott.

YR Coffee Morning

Friday 25TH September 2015

Today, the children in the Reception classes hosted a coffee morning for their parents in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Charity. This initiative links in with their work on ‘Ourselves and Families’ as they have been learning about taking care of others and looking after themselves. There was a good turn-out of parents and they all enjoyed a drink with biscuits that the children had made themselves.

YR & Y1 Drama Workshop

Tuesday 22ND September 2015

On Tuesday, Reception and Year 1 had a drama workshop run by Perform Drama. Laura, the woman running the session, involved the children in a story about knights, castles and princesses. The children were really enthusiastic to participate in the session and enjoyed trying to save the cat from the dragon.
