We were visited by Skip2bFit and each class took part in a 30 minute activity which involved skipping and having an opportunity to beat their personal best. At the end of the day children received certificates for effort and achievement as well as a face off between Miss Sayed and Mr Elliott Rey, who were the highest scoring teachers. After a minute of intense competition, Miss Sayed came out on top after completing more skips in a minute. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day for staff and pupils and is something the children will continue to do on a weekly basis.

Wed 23RD May 2018 - Music In May

Music In May 2018
St Andrew's Church

On Wednesday, nearly 100 children spent the day at St Andrew’s Church rehearsing for our annual concert: Music in May! Children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 arrived at 9.00am with their many instruments, including cellos, clarinets, flutes, guitars, a trombone, trumpets and violins. They spent the morning rehearsing their music and songs and in the afternoon, there was a full run through of the programme so that everybody knew when they were playing and where they had to be!

At 6.30pm the children arrived full of excitement and ready to perform. The audience had the pleasure of watching solo, small group performances and also our school band and orchestra perform. The choir performed songs including Turn to Me and Every Cloud has a Silver Lining. The instrumentalists played pieces including the Witches Cauldron, Chunk of Funk, Violin Star, and We’re off to see the Wizard. Band played three pieces including Blueberry Train. Orchestra played four pieces including Lord of the Rings. The evening concluded with everyone joining in with Three Lions. The children commented on how they enjoyed themselves. The behaviour of the children throughout the day was impeccable. Thank you parents for all of your support and also thank you to the staff who gave up their time to help in the evening.

If your child would like to play an instrument next year a letter will be sent out after half-term!

Ramadan 2018

A letter was sent home earlier this week, to notify families who might be observing Ramadan of the school’s position on fasting. If you are considering allowing your child to fast, please ensure permission slips are returned to school on Monday and please consider half-day fast (until morning break time at 10:25 or lunchtime at 12:00). Finally, we wish everyone observing Ramadan a blessed time of fasting. Ramadan Mubarak!
